Post image for The Commons is adding a new Pizza and Pasta station

Pardon the mess, but the Commons is renovating its food service line to include a new pizza and pasta station. These favorite food items were mentioned most often when students, faculty and staff were surveyed last semester. The expansion will include a brick oven for pizza and space for cooking demonstrations.

The Commons will be open during construction, although a portion of the dining room will be curtained off. We will serve our summer groups uninterrupted, with the exception of a few minor changes and a little bit of noise.

The expansion will require additional equipment, as well as structural renovations. The dessert bar will be relocated and the pizza and pasta station will be installed in the current dessert corner. Seating adjustments will be made, but very few seats will be lost.

We will be hiring a pizza cook and an assistant for this area, and our current priority is to take care of the guests dining in the Commons. At present, pizza will not be available for takeout or catering, but these options might be considered in the future. Details concerning hours of availability are still being worked out.

We think you will be pleased with the new service. Thank you for your patience as our already-impressive dining services staff prepares to take it up another notch.

The pasta station is okay…….but from this alum, we would rather you reinstate good, perked coffee. That instant coffee machine is terrible!
