Hundreds of Roanoke College students, faculty and staff are expected to share in the third annual President’s Ball on Saturday, November 7 from 8:00pm to midnight in the Colket Center. This year there is a theme – it is a Masked Ball! Those who wear a mask will be entered in a contest where the best male and best female mask each wins a $50 Visa card. (Masks are not required for entry…but they are encouraged!)

Hosted by Mike and Terri Maxey, the annual President’s Ball is open to all current Roanoke College students, faculty, and staff (plus a guest!). There is no charge to attend the ball. Attire is semi-formal, black-tie optional. A cash bar is available (Must provide valid ID).

The Colket Center will be transformed for the occasion! Each floor will have a different décor, a different kind of food, and a different kind of music. The Domino Band will cause a stir in the ballroom playing everything from Sinatra to the 80s. The Cyrus Pace Ensemble will convert the Commons into a hip blues and jazz café. DJ Lil Fos will turn up the heat, club style in the Cavern.

In addition to “best mask” prizes, there will be door prizes from Starbucks, iTunes, Macy’s and the GAP drawn each hour. But that’s not all!! There is a class competition for best attendance! The class with the largest number of party-goers could not only earn bragging rights for a year, but also the chance to win a brand new Apple iTouch. Just before midnight, a name will be drawn from the winning class roster. Must be present to win! Also a photographer will be on hand to take party pictures that can be ordered online.

The President’s Ball began in 2007 as the grand finale to the many campus events honoring the inauguration of President Maxey. According to him, the first President’s Ball was such fun for the entire campus family, it is now an annual fall celebration.
