Roanoke Seniors Help with Plans for a New Hotel

by Whitney Anderson on February 11, 2010

We invite you to watch Roanoke’s latest video, showcasing a group of Roanoke College senior business majors as they work on their final senior project:  a business plan for local restauranteur, Roger Neel ’85,  to renovate and create a hotel, restaurant and bar.

They completed this project for their business policy course, which is the core senior level course for the business administration majors.  Through projects, case studies, seminars, and presentations, students are challenged to solve real life business problems.

Roger Neel is an alumnus of Roanoke College and one of his restaurants, Corned Beef & Co., started as a spin-off of his own business policy project when he was in school.

With the research assistance provided by the Roanoke College students, Roger Neel and his partners are moving forward with plans for the hotel.  Read more about this project here: http://www.hotel-online.com/News/PR2010_1st/Jan10_MarketStreet.html

I think this will be a great thing for Roanoke College Business stuents to learn first hand what is involved in such a large project as well as causing an economic boost to the area. I have had experience in the hotel and restaurant industry for more than 15 years and know the process to get to the point of opening day and then to carry it on through the years, it is an amazing feeling when it comes to fruition.
